Ellen Manske, 80, of Michigan City, Indiana, died peacefully at her home Thursday morning, June 25, 2009. Ellen was born March 7, 1929 in Marseilles, Illinois. She was employed at the Old Heidelberg restaurant in Michigan City for many years, cooking up food for the patrons. She enjoyed cooking, tending her flower gardens, going to garage sales, and simply loved her grandchildren. Ellen was the beloved matriarch of her family and will truly be missed.
Ellen is survived by her children, Michael (Karen) Deeds, New Buffalo; Lynn (Dennis) Pierce, California; Greg (Ruth) Runnels, Niles, Michigan; Lee (Christina) Sampson, LaPorte, Indiana; Jeffrey Sampson of Michigan City; and Beverly (Jim) Wunderlin of Michigan City; 18 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sisters, Norma (Dale) Hampton of Florida and Rose (Tom) Warren of New Buffalo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Etta Beers; husband, John Manske; sisters, Elsie Alm and Grace Micor, brother, Stanley Gordon; and daughter, Tina Beyer.
