Ellen Irene Copley, 75, of Jacksonville, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Jacksonville Convalescent Center.
She was born Ellen Irene Jackson on Dec. 18, 1935, in Scottville, the daughter of Wayne and Mary Barnard Jackson McElroy. She married David Ross Copley on Apr. 16, 1954, in East Alton and he preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2006.
She is survived by one daughter, Debbie (Fred) Thomas of Jacksonville; granddaughter Mindy Thomas of Jacksonville; sister, Carol Fisher of Jacksonville; brother, Harold McElroy of Greenfield; niece, Carla (Keith) Fabrique of Mt. Zion; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd McElroy and Jimmy Jackson.
Mrs. Copley worked at Milburn-LaRoss Jewelers and later for Duncan & Hoots Jewelers. She enjoyed cooking, playing bingo and spending time with her family.
