Ellen G. Heeres, age 91 of Kalamazoo, went to be with her Lord on March 3, 2019. She was born February 7, 1928, in Rudyard, Michigan, to John and Lena (Mast) Hoolsema. On July 16, 1948, Ellen married John Heeres.
Ellen and John were longtime members of the Westwood Christian Reformed Church. She volunteered with the Five Day Club, Bible School, and Friendship group at the church. Ellen was devoted to her family and would travel any distance for a visit, to attend a grandchild’s events, or to share in a new memory together. Her family includes her children: Elaine Breur, Harvey Heeres, Raymond (Brenda) Heeres, Stanley (Sandra) Heeres, Nancy (Danny) Sluss, Laura Cousineau, Janice (Jim) Filip, and Steve (Cheryl) Heeres; her 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; her sister Angie Hoolsema and her brother Gerald Hoolsema; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1990 and six brothers and sisters.
