OBIT Ellen “Ellie” Glass, 94, of Clarksburg, WV, formerly of Flushing, NY, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the United Hospital Center following a brief illness. She was born August 1, 1915 in Glen Cove, NY a daughter of the late Edward O’Donnell of Kilkenny, Ireland and the late Mary Purcell O’Donnell of New York City. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Andrew Glass. Surviving are one daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Dombkoski and her husband, Dr. Frank Dombkoski of Clarksburg, WV; as well as her beloved granddaughter, Bridget Dombkoski of Clarksburg, WV. Also surviving are her nephew, Robert Fisher and his wife, Doreen of Staten Island, NY, and their children, Robert and Gayle; great niece, Mary Rattray of NYC; and special grandniece, Janet Solowey of El Cajon, CA. Ellen was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having also been preceded in death by one son, Richard Andrew Glass; and eight brothers and sisters; Edward, James, John, Richard, Thomas, Francis and Margaret O’Donnell, and Mary O’Donnell Fisher. She was a 1934 graduate of Cathedral High School in NYC. Ellen was employed by Ridgewood Savings Bank in Laurelton, NY, and the Federal Aviation Administration at JFK. She attended St. Ann’s R.C. Church in Flushing, NY and was a long-time member of the Holy Rosary Society. In Clarksburg, WV, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the United Hospital Center Auxiliary, and a member of the Harrison County Senior Center. Ellen loved to travel and was able to see England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada and Bermuda, as well as travel across the United States. She loved board games and playing cards with her friends and family, and she was an avid reader who read well over 100 books a year, with mystery stories being a favorite. She loved spending time with her family and was especially proud of her granddaughter, Bridget.
