Ellen (Ellena) Burkhart, 87, of Princeton, formerly of Peru, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Manor Court of Princeton. Mrs. Burkhart was born on January 7, 1931, in Standard to Lawrence and Winifred (O’Keefe) Ellena.
She married Robert Burkhart on December 1, 1951, at Sacred Heart Church in Granville. Ellen worked as the office manager at Howard Marshall Insurance in Peru until her retirement. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peru, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Illinois Valley YMCA.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; her three children, Daniel (Helen) Burkhart of LaSalle, Rebecca (Jeff) Bertrand of Pontiac, and Amy (David) Rutherford of Spring Valley; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Danielle) Bertrand, Andrea Bertrand, Courtney Burkhart, Cassie Burkhart, and Travis Rutherford and two great-grandchildren, Tegan Rutherford and Norah Bertrand.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
