Ellen Patrice Bishop, 59, passed away Wednesday, September 8th, 2021. Ellen was born March 17, 1962, in Maquoketa, IA, to Durward and Helen (Kulhavy) Marek. She married Patrick Bishop on March 13, 1982.
Ellen spent much of her career at Avondale Animal Hospital and later Mercy Pediatric Clinic. She dedicated her life to caring for others. She became the best caregiver to her grandchildren the last 11 years and helped Pat after his cancer diagnosis in November of 2019. She loved creating memories and annual trips with her children, grandchildren and especially her husband, Pat, who was truly the love of her life. She ended many conversations with “I Love You Forever and a Day.”
Ellen is survived by her daughters, Krystelle (Michael) Cortes-Ryan of Pleasant Hill, IA; Kelle (Chase) Uhlman of Des Moines, IA; son, Kyle (Lana) Bishop of Carlisle, IA; grandchildren, James, Lydia, Iselle, Illiana, Brenna; step-daughter, Brandie (Brett) Newberg of Norwalk, IA; step-grandchildren, Hunter, Drew, Garrett; step-mother, Maxine Marek of Kittanning, PA; sisters, Joella (Dale) Isaacs of Flower Mound, TX, Michelle (Paul) Dupey of Urbandale, IA; brother Durward (Christine) Marek of Boca Raton, FL; step-sister, Kathy (Betsy) Taylor; honorary sister, Nancy (Dave) Chapman as well as so many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat, just 11 days earlier.
