Ellawyn “Ma” (Bute) Sipula, 96, of Ottawa, died July 18, 2014 at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Ellawyn was born on October 5, 1917 in Ottawa to Edward and Ella (Sticklen) Bute. She married Michael “Pro” Sipula on March 19, 1940, in Ottawa, and together they owned and operated the Pine Hills Golf Club until she retired in 2010. Ellawyn was a member of St. Columba Church and Catholic Daughters of America.
She is survived by 4 children; Michael Sipula, John Sipula, Jim (Sandra) Sipula, and Bill (Bonnie) Sipula, of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Ellawyn was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, on May 2, 1999, her parents, and 3 brothers: Edward, Carl, and Herbert Bute. Memorials may be directed to the St. Columba Church Building Fund. Pallbearers will be: John, Jr., Mike, III, Brian, Tom, Bob, and Jacob Sipula, and Becky Samolitis.
