Ellar Dee Wimberly Mitchell was born to the late Rev. John A. Wimbley Sr. and the late Queen Easter Wimbley on Aug. 12, 1943 in Washington County. She departed this life Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Providence Hospital in Mobile, where the Covenant Care staff tirelessly cared for her during her transition.
Ellar committed her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Millry, where she sang in the choir and also served as a deaconess for numerous years. She worked as a seamstress at Millry Manufacturing Company in Millry until diagnosed with renal failure in 1997.
Ellar was united in marriage to Robert L. Mitchell Jr. on April 14, 1963 and to this union six children were born.
Preceding her in death were her parents; one child; Christopher Jerome Mitchell; two beloved sisters, Annie L. Howell and Betty L. Johnson; two beloved brothers, Paul Wimbley Sr. and James E. Wimbley; four brothers-in-law, Milton Bowman, A.D. Howell, Johnnie Mitchell and Wade Abston; and one sister-in-law, Elouise Mitchell.

Mitchell, both of Millry, and Sherri D. Thomas (Daryl) of Selma; two devoted sons, Robert L. Mitchell III (Ida Mae) of Frankville and Eddie J. Mitchell of Millry; two devoted grandsons, Apostle Robert Duane Mitchell Sr. (Samantha) of Molino, Fla. and James Reginald Mitchell of Millry; two devoted granddaughters, Markeisha L. Mitchell of Frankville and Nakiria C. Thomas of Selma; six great-grandchildren, four devoted, Emmanuel E. Mitchell of Pensacola, Fla., Jakayla L. Mitchell, Robert Duane Mitchell Jr. and Kingstan D. Mitchell, all of Molino, Fla.; two beloved sisters, Leora Wimbley of Millry and Easter Mae Koen (Sylvester) of Frankville; beloved brother, John A. Wimbley Jr.
both of Frankville, Mary Cannon (Charles) of Daphne, Martha Lankford (Tommy) of Mobile, Edwina Abston of Millry and Sandris Mitchell of Koenton; six brothers-in-law, Earnest Johnson of Chatom, Leroy Mitchell (Eldora) of St. Stephens, Eddie D.
