Ella Maellia Huffin of Denton, Maryland, was called home on September 1, 2016, at the Caroline Hospice Center in Denton, Maryland.
Ella was born on April 1, 1940, daughter of the late Dorothy Virginia Chambers and the late William Chambers. On January 26, 1990, Ella married the late Cleveland James Huffin. Ella attended school in Caroline County, Maryland and graduated from Lockerman High School in 1959.
Ella gave birth to a loving daughter, Robin Chambers-Baltimore. She was wife of Melvin Leroy Baltimore. Ella has two granddaughters, Tyisha Luniece Todd, of Salisbury, Maryland; and Tyjunana Traniece Willis of Hurlock, Maryland. Between the two granddaughters, Mother Ella was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren.
While living in Patterson, New Jersey, Ella attended Faith Tabernacle Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Allen Gilmore. In 2010, Ella returned to her home town of Denton, Maryland to live. While in Denton, Ella became a member of Abrams Memorial Church under the leadership of Pastor Thomas H. Fisher, Sr. While at Abrams Memorial, Ella was affectionately called ‘Mother Ella’. She was one of the Mothers of Abrams. Mother Ella will always be remembered for her quiet, loving and kind spirit; her heartfelt love for the youth, and her love and dedication to Abrams Memorial ministry.
Ella has three surviving sisters, Elenor Chambers, Rosetta Downes, and Lucille Brown, and the late Mary E. Mcshan; and four surviving brothers, Charles Chambers, Rufus Downes, Earnest Downes and Lester Chambers and the late Donald L. Downes, the late Vernon C. Downes, and the late Harold W. Chambers. Also, Ella is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins and her Abrams Memorial Church family and friends.
