Our dear Ella returned to her loving Heavenly Father on March 27, 2016 at the age of 103.
Ella Mabel Nielsen Hoskins was born October 17, 1912 in Clover, UT to Alfred and Mabel Steele Nielsen. She was the second of four children. Ella graduated from Box Elder High School in 1927 then attended Utah State University where she received her Teaching Degree. Ella’s first teaching assignment began in in a one room school house at Grouse Creek, UT. She then move to Portage to teach. There she met her sweetheart, Herman Wells Hoskins. They were married February 17, 1934, and sealed later that year in the Logan Temple.
Ella’s life was dedicated to serving others in any capacity – civic, education, community or church. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she had many positions and served two full time proselyting missions (Texas and Southern California). She was devoted to Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and Delta Kappa Gamma.
Ella enjoyed working in the yard, tending her rose garden, painting, crocheting, quilting, sewing and spending time with family and friends. She also loved to travel. Ella could pack a bag and be ready to go in minutes. She had the opportunity to visit many places across the globe.
Ella was loved by all those who knew her and touched the lives of everyone she met. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman, children Richard and Connie Wright, grandchildren, parents, siblings and many other family members.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Norman) Higley, Robert (Kay) Hoskins, Patti (Chip) Preston, and son in law, Charles Wright, 15 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 21 great -great grandchildren.
