Ella Mae White was born April 1, 1929 in Corpus Christi, Texas to loving parents, Elijah White and Ruby Gertrude Darden White. She received her education in Corpus Christi, graduating from Solomon Coles High School in 1947.

In 1949, Ella united in marriage with Robert C. McKnight of the United States Navy. They moved to San Diego, California, where they raised six beautiful children.

Ella, who was raised by God-fearing parents in the Catholic faith, united with St.

Ella worked numerous years as a caregiver to the elderly. She was gifted with a genuine concern toward others and was truly a credit to her profession. In 1969, Ella met and married Cecil Williams of the United States Navy. Their union was blessed with two children.

For over thirty years, Ella was a committed volunteer for St. Vincent DePaul’s “Feed the Homeless Program”. If there was someone in need, she was there with a loving heart and open arms.

Ella was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She always believed in the unity of the family. She had a way of making everyone laugh, even in difficult times. She enjoyed writing, reading, entertaining and cooking large spreads for family and friends. She was known for her kind, tender and loving nature. Ella lived a good life loving the Lord. Although she will be greatly missed, her spirit will live in the hearts of her loved ones and friends for many years to come.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Sharon McKnight; three sons, Derek, Ronnie and Frantz McKnight.

On Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 2:49 P.M., God whispered to Ella Mae Williams, “My arms embrace you my dear, come go with Me”. She is survived by her children, Damita Lewis (Larry), Katrina Ramsey (Adolph), Belinda Williams and Corey Williams; two sisters, Betty Butler and Dorothy Johnson; grandchildren, Nathaniel McKnight-Zielinski, Laura Gutierrez, Kellen Winslow II, Rajahnay Ramsey, Latrice Escudero, Najee Biggs, Dirk Tesch and Arthur Harris, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
