Ella Dean Shoemate, 90, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Southfork River Therapy and Living Center in Salem, Arkansas.
She was born in Calico Rock, Arkansas on May 20, 1927, daughter of the late Eva Elizabeth (Hively) and Eldon Oran Garner. Ella spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and friend. She was united in marriage to Elmer Onies Shoemate on October 19, 1946 in Salem, Arkansas and to this union one son was born, William Oran “Billy” Shoemate. She was a member of the Salem Church of Christ in Salem.
Ella is survived by her brother, Jim Garner and wife Carolyn of Carlsbad, New Mexico; sister in law, Lonita Garner of Roswell, New Mexico; aunt, Vivine Garner of Carlsbad, New Mexico; nephews, Mike Garner, Kenneth Garner, James Garner, Guy Shoemate and Melvin Shoemate; nieces, Catherine Hawkins and Melba Jo Joice; great nephews, Bryan Garner, Michael Garner, Matthew Garner, Dakota Shoemate; great nieces, Johanna Shoemate, Kathryn Fortner and Tabitha Willett and special children, Houston Clements and family, Greta Clements and Family, Eddie Clements and Family and Dianne Clements and Family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Onies Shoemate; son, William Oran “Billy” Shoemate; parents, Eva and Eldon Garner and brother, Wandel O. Garner.
