On Tuesday, June 4, 2013, Mrs. Elizabeth Gray departed from this world to a life everlasting at the age of 93. Mrs. Gray was born on March 30, 1920 in Welch, West Virginia to the late Rosa and Luther Wade.
She attended school in Piedmount, West Virginia. Shortly after school she met and married William Penn Robinson which produced three children, Betty Jean (Robinson) Hairston, Henry Robinson (deceased) and Rosa Yvonne (Robinson) Baynard (deceased).
Elizabeth was very gifted with her hands, and loved to crochet. She was very generous with her crocheting skills, making such things as jackets and quilts for her children and grandchildren.
She had such a giving heart and was so considerate to those she felt were in need. There was a situation where she slept on the sofa, giving up her bed to someone she felt needed it more than she did.
She was very active with the senior ladies at Foxchase. She regularly participated in the bazaars by crocheting items to be auctioned off. She was so proud of her Long Star Quilt. The funds raised at the bazaar were for the community and often used to supply new residents with care packages.
She was a proud and active member of Foxchase Baptist Church, now Tabernacle Baptist Church (TBC) until her health declined.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Betty Jean Hairston and son-in-law Harry Hairston Jr., seven grandchildren: Harry Hairston III, Glenn Hairston, Cheryl Adams, Dianne Gale Robinson, Angela Tomler, Bobbett Robinson and Vonda Robinson; twelve great- grandchildren, and a host of great-great grandchildren, cousins and many friends.
She joined her family, who preceded her in death, including her husband, son, daughter and two grandsons.
