Elizabeth “Betty” Reynolds (nee Moore) tragically passed away November 7, 2021 following complications from a car crash. She left this world exactly as she would have wanted: surrounded by family while being complimented by the nurses on how good she looked for her age. She started her 90-year journey in the small town of Swinford in County Mayo, Ireland. She grew up on a farm with her 9 siblings, but always yearned for the bright lights of a big city, and immigrated to Chicago at age 20. Always the belle of the ball, she captured the hearts of many men, but the one who finally captured hers was Patrick Reynolds. Together they spent 58 years building a life that birthed Carmel (Pat) Maloney CFD, Bob (Chris Lomax) Reynolds, and Danny (Colleen) Reynolds, and seven grandchildren: Patrick, Conor, Tara, and Rory Maloney; Bridget, Eileen, and Brendan Reynolds, through whom her spirit will live on.
Betty’s love and devotion to her family was matched only by her brand loyalty to her white wine, always watered down with ice. When her husband developed Alzheimer’s, she spent every day caring for him. She was a mother figure to more than just her children and she enjoyed an especially close bond with each of her grandchildren. She was a vivacious personality who lit up every room she walked into and loved her active social life that included dancing, dining and yoga.
