Elizabeth R. (Betty) George, 88 of Greensburg, passed away, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Redstone Highlands.
She was born January 25, 1930 in Englishtown, NJ, named after both her grandmothers, she was the eldest child and daughter of Harry R. Roach and Pauline Schroy Roach.
Betty was an Elder and member of Westminister Presbyterian Church where she also sang in the church choir.
Prior to retirement, she worked as a children’s Librarian for Greensburg Library and she was a former member of the library’s board.
She was not only a children’s librarian but she was also an artist, storyteller, college May Queen, army wife, believer in magic, book lover, kind soul, and kindred spirit. Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin F. George and a sister, Ruth Ann Shaffer.
Surviving are her six children, Karen (Jack) Shults, Barbara (Tom) Barozzini, Tamara (Roger) Huey, Wendy (Don) Lee, Toni (J.T.) Leathers, and James (Haruko) George; eleven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a brother, John Robert Roach; sisters, Barbara Bonesteel and Mitzi Shamble; and several nieces and nephews.
