Mrs. Oliver quietly passed away at her residence. Her Viewing and Rosary will be Monday, February 18, 2013 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Mortuary.

Elizabeth was born September 21, 1933 in Macon, GA. She was the youngest of four children born to the union of Solomon Smith and Essie Manuel Smith. Having lost her mother to illness when she was only seven years of age, Elizabeth was raised by her father and loving stepmother, Mattie Smith.

Elizabeth met the love of her life, Jimmie Oliver and they were united in marriage in Macon, Georgia on February 23, 1952. They moved to San Diego, CA on military orders in 1957 with their two children. San Diego became their life-long home where they raised six children.

Elizabeth was a devoted and caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved to spend quality time with family and friends. She truly considered herself to be a “home body”. She loved to cook and was an avid sports fan, especially baseball and football.

Elizabeth held several part time jobs through the years, but especially enjoyed her eighteen years with Macy’s Inc. as a sales associate. She never met a stranger, as she could strike up a conversation with anyone on a whim.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her eldest son, Jimmie Oliver, Jr. in 2006; her husband, Jimmie Oliver, Sr. in 2009; her parents; brothers, Warren and James Smith; sisters, Essie Mae Smith, Ruby Lowe, Ethel Cullins and Mamie Campbell.
