Mrs. Elizabeth “Noddie” Lorraine Turney Black was born April 22, 1931 in Somerville, Alabama to the late Maxie Turney and Eddie Bell Graham Turney. She departed this life on October 14, 2012. Although she had no biological children, she raised five children as her own, William, Byron, Joseph, Lorraine and Betty Mae.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, William Black, one brother, Mac Arthur Turney, two sisters, Bernice Cowley and Fannie Mae Sykes.
She attended Morgan County School. She worked at Mandal Printing Company in Milwaukee, WS. After moving back to Alabama she worked as a homemaker.
She was a faithful and dedicated member at United Christian Bible Church. She served on the Mother’s Board and sang in the choir.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Elder Equator Black of Decatur; two daughters, Lorraine Black of Decatur and Betty Mae Mitchell of Milwaukee, WS; two sons, Byron (Lasonja) Mason of Montgomery, Joseph (Patricia) Burton of Somerville; three sisters, Maxie M. Chatman of Decatur, Lula J. Turney and Ruth N. Stevenson both of Milwaukee, WS; one brother, Joe B. Turney of Milwaukee, WS; one sister-in-law, Betty Turney of Decatur; one grandson, Deandre Smith of Decatur, a devoted, loving and caring friend, William Robinson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
