Mrs. Elizabeth (Liz) Jean Sutton Hallisey, 99, of Newnan passed away peacefully in her residence at Wesley Woods on October 26, 2020. Liz had been a resident of Newnan since 2000 when she moved here from Palm City, Florida to be near family. She was born in Franklin, Pennsylvania on July 3, 1921 to the late Ralph M. Sutton and Mary Ditzenberger Sutton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Hallisey; her five siblings; son-in-law, Lyle Shira; and a granddaughter, Karen Shira Isherwood. Liz grew up in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania and graduated from Robert Morris Business School. In her early years she enjoyed full-time homemaking and raising two children. She volunteered in the local community and schools until her children were grown, and later worked as an executive secretary. She also volunteered in fund raising for the Pittsburgh Symphony and, along with her husband, helped established the first public library in Brentwood, Pa. Other volunteer work included serving in a hospital caring for newborns (especially preemies), and as the “Story Lady”, reading to children in daycare. She was a member of Grace Community Fellowship in Newnan. Liz is survived by her son, James (Genise) Hallisey of Bentonville, Arkansas and daughter, B. Michael Shira Greene (Carl) of Newnan. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Brian (Bonnie) Hallisey of Fort Collins, Colorado; David (Silvi) Hallisey of Maryland; Leslie (Keith) Echols of Anchorage, Alaska; Krista (Brant) Frost of Newnan. She was also blessed with 20 great grandchildren and nine great, great grandchildren.
