Elizabeth Liz Hadden, 93, of Jacksonville, died Thursday, September 18, 2008, at Barton W. Stone Nursing Home in Jacksonville.

She was born June 28, 1915, on the family farm west of Jacksonville, the daughter of Fred and Lucy Gordon Jewsbury. She married William L. Hadden on July 28, 1939, in New London, MO. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1999.

She is survived by three daughters and one son, Nancy (husband, Darrell) Wynn, Robert (wife, Carolyn) Hadden, Jane Hadden and Jean (husband, Harold) Young, all of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren, Bev (husband, Steve) Goodey, Dale (wife, Amy) Hadden, Gary (wife, Lisa) Hadden, and Melissa (husband, Mike) Schildman, all of Jacksonville, David (wife, Peggy) Wynn of Loami, Kenny (wife, Susan) Hadden of Taylorville, Paul (wife, Kristen) Hadden of Chicago, and Scott (wife, Sarah) Young of Winchester; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Claude, Harold, Clarence and Wilbur Jewsbury and one in infancy.

Mrs. Hadden was a graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended MacMurray Womens College. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Jane Miller Group. She had been a member of Passavant Auxiliary and Home Bureau. She was an excellent cook and loved sharing her baked goods with others. She enjoyed watching University of Illinois basketball and St. Louis Cardinals games.
