Elizabeth “Betty” (Mosher) Gallichant, beloved wife for 64 years of the late Alphonse “Al”, died on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the age of 102. Betty was born December 2, 1918 in Sheffield, VT to the late Ahi and Delia (Girard) Mosher. She grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Killingly High School. The caption in her yearbook read, “Betty is a brown haired, twinkling eyed girl whose smile is simple and quiet. Betty feels as much at home in the water as she does on a clay court.” She married her good friend’s brother and they raised 7 children in Manchester, CT. She and her husband Al were members of the Manchester Square Dance Club, and they enjoyed many years of square and round dancing. They became snowbirds and spent many winters in Florida.
Along with her husband, Al, she was predeceased by her son Paul, sister Anna Anger, and brother Alan Mosher. Betty is survived by her three sons, James of Derry, NH (Barbara dec’d) and their sons James and Thomas; Thomas and wife Gitté of Naples, FL and children Glenn, Todd and Laura; Peter and wife Joannie of Vernon, CT and their daughters Amanda and Sarah; and her three daughters, Ellen and husband Sam Lyle of Houston, TX and children Jessica and Seth; Elizabeth “Betty Ann” and husband Tom Aitkin of Bolton, CT and their children Benjamin, Thomas and Polly; and Linda and husband Giles Cutler of Ayden, NC and their son Will; and many great and great-great grandchildren. Betty was cared for in her later years by several dedicated and loving caregivers. The family especially wants to recognize Miranda who tirelessly cared for her through her most difficult days.
