Mrs. Jones died Wednesday, June 12, 2019, in a Temple Skilled Nursing Center.

Mrs. Jones was born on July 9, 1926 in the Armstrong Community, the daughter of Robert and Erna (Splittgerber) McGuyer. She was a graduate of Belton High School. She worked for the telephone company during World War II. She married Clyde S. Jones, November 28, 1947 in Dallas and they were married for 71 years before she passed away.

Mrs. Jones loved being a homemaker. She was everything from chauffeur to band booster to football mom, and she was always there for her boys, nieces and nephews. She was also a member of the Yellowbird Volunteers at Scott and White Hospital in Temple for many years showing her strong belief in volunteering and giving back to her community. Libby enjoyed helping run the gift shop at Scott and White with her close friends Faye Stewart and Mary Cannon. She was the former First lady of Farm Equipment Manufacturer’s Association (FEMA), and she and Clyde enjoyed traveling the world representing the organization as well as Mohawk Equipment and Belltec Industries. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Belton for over 60 years.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Margaret Heartfield.

Survivors include her husband of over 71 years, Clyde S. Jones of Belton, two sons; Donald W. and his wife Mary Jones of Morgan’s Point Resort and David and his wife Katherine Jones of Belton; one brother Robert McGuyer and his wife Frances of Belton; seven grandchildren; Alan Jones, Crissie Ferguson, Jennifer Button, Kenneth Jones, Shannon Espitia, Kelsey Jones, and Connor Jones; and seven great grandchildren.
