Elizabeth Yarbrough Ayres, known to friends and family as Lee or “Lee Lee”, passed away peacefully December 3, 2020 with her daughter, Angie, by her side. She was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, on July 24, 1948 to the late Marion and Louise Yarbrough. Lee was a graduate of Mainland High School in 1965 where she represented her class as Miss Mainland. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from Bessie Tift College in 1969. Lee was a choral music educator for 35 years. She taught in both Florida and Georgia. She made a huge impact in the lives of her students. Many of them went on to continue in a career of music. She had an extreme passion for educational travel and took many students to Europe throughout the years. In 1982, her choral group was invited to sing at the White House. That is a memory of a lifetime. After she retired, she and her husband, Morris, opened Learning Curves Travel. They were able to continue to take many students to various cities. Lee was also a wonderful pianist and organist. She was the organist for many churches throughout the years. Along with her parents, Lee is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Ayres. She is survived by her daughter Angie Bradley Miller (Kris) of Newnan, Ga, her brother Richard Yarbrough (Vera) of Braselton, Ga, and her two grandsons she adored, Jacob and Lucas Miller. She also is survived by several relatives in Georgia and Florida.
