Elizabeth “Lizzie” Kolsch peacefully slipped into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, May 19, 2016. A life-long resident of Brevard County, Lizzie was born at Cape Canaveral Hospital, August 7, 1979. Liz attended Merritt Island Christian School for elementary, middle and high school where she played basketball and was crowned homecoming queen. One of the highlights of Lizzie’s childhood were the summers that she spent at Camp Crestridge in Black Mountain, NC. It was there that she made life-long friends and encountered the Lord Jesus Christ in a very personal way. After high school Liz attended the University of Florida and then the University of Central Florida, obtaining bachelor’s degrees from both schools.
Liz was a devoted daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She loved her family and friends and was a bright spot in so many lives. She was the organizer and creative spirit that dreamed up party themes, practical jokes and fun activities and organized cruise adventures. But her love for others extended well beyond the party. On many, many occasions she was the Good Samaritan, ready and willing to help others in their time of need, even when it meant sacrificing herself. Not to be forgotten is Lizzie’s love for her past pets, Natasha & Fluffy, and more recently her adored cats Tiger, Peanut Butter, Bobby and numerous litters of kittens.
Her love for everything and everyone was rooted in her relationship with Jesus. Liz never wavered in her love for Him and He was an intimate and important part of her life. In the good times and the hard times, Liz remained faithful to her Jesus (which is how she often referred to Him in conversation). Lizzie knew that Jesus loved her as she was, not as she should be, and He would never leave her side.
She is survived by her parents, Norman Kolsch and Martha Gillum (Larry), sister, Melissa Kolsch Jones (Herb), brother, Stewart Norman Kolsch (Leslie Freidel), Aunts and Uncles: Hank & Connie Kolsch, Dennis & Angie Kolsch, Dean & Julie Kolsch, Albert & Nancy Kolsch, Linda & Jim Hogue, Marta & William Trueax, & Fred & Mary Mook. Preceded in death by: paternal grandparents Orville and Delores Kolsch, maternal grandparents Basil and Verna Stewart, Uncles Dale Stewart and Eugene Kolsch and second cousin Kai Stewart.
Lizzie is also survived by many caring friends, who, like her family, were endeared by Lizzie’s loving heart and unique sense of humor.
