Elizabeth Kiehl “Betty” Manno, 94, of Elliot St. Williamsport, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, February, 25, 2011 in the Williamsport Home, where she had been a resident for the past four years.

    Mrs. Manno was born August 3, 1916 in Williamsport, a daughter of Charles and Martha Kulp Kiehl. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Donald D. Manno, on March 11, 1995.

    She was a 1934 graduate of Williamsport High School. From 1937-1952, Don and Betty traveled throughout the United States during his professional baseball career. Upon returning to Williamsport, she worked for various Williamsport merchants, before becoming a special education teacher’s aide for Williamsport Area School District for 14 years and retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.

     Betty was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an oblate of St. Benedict. She loved horseback riding, and was a member of the Lycoming County Arabian Horse Club, and the Whispering Valley Arabian Riding Stable, where she boarded her horse “Lady Camelot”.  Betty loved her dogs, and was an ardent supporter of the S.P.C.A.

     Surviving are a son The Rev. John K. Manno of Williamsport, a daughter Dona E. Jones of Williamsport, two grandchildren Geneva M. Sitler, and Keanu F. Bunting both of Williamsport, four great grandchildren Brittany E. Dressler, Cheyanne M. Dressler, Scott B. Sitler, III, and Keanu F. Sitler, and one Godson, Dr. Lee M. Ciccarelli.

     She was preceded in death by a son Michael Kulp Manno.

   Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. Williamsport.
