Elizabeth K. Slocum, 96, formerly of Heritage Village died Tuesday October 31, 2006 at East Hill Woods Health Care center. She was the wife of the late Col. Alexander N. Slocum Jr., known to his friends as “Red”, was retired from the U.S. Army. Mrs. Slocum, known to her friends as “Betty”, was born June 28, 1910 in Cleveland Ohio daughter of the late Robert M. and Bertha T. (Wallace) Kilgore. She had lived in Japan and Alaska before retiring to Southbury.
She had worked as a volunteer throughout her life, working with the Girl Scouts here in the U.S. and overseas. She had also volunteered with the Red Cross, and many other civic and political groups. In Heritage Village she was a volunteer with the H.V. Ambulance, was a past Vice President of the H.V. Republican Club, and was a member of the H.V. Golf Club, ten Pin Bowling Club, the Curling Club and the garden Club.
Among her survivors are two nephews, William Duff of Mystic, David Kilgore of New Haven, a sister Jane Duff of Ca. and several great nieces and nephews.
