Elizabeth Jean “Liz” Rivera, 47, of Bethlehem and formerly of Brooklyn, NY died on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, shortly after she was tragically struck by an SUV while crossing East Broad Street near the Bethlehem YMCA. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ernesto Rivera and Elisabeth (Cardona) Rivera, and step-daughter of Edwin Cortes.
Liz was a loving and caring individual who may not have had a home with four walls, but she found love, support and a place in the Bethlehem community. She was a fixture in the community, where she would sell her handmade crafts, which brought smiles to everyones faces. The tremendous outpour of love from the community this past week was a beautiful testament to her impact on the lives of many in Bethlehem. Liz was a loving mother, daughter, sister, niece and aunt and will be deeply missed by all she touched. She will be forever known for her spunk, feistiness and tenacity for life, the way she wanted to live it.
Survivors: Jeannie will be lovingly remembered by her mother Elisabeth and step-father Edwin Cortes; son, Nicholas Angel Bermudez; sisters Nilsa Orellana, Angela Voccio and her boyfriend Thomas Martinez and many other loving family and friends.
