Betty Carter
Betty was born in Beardstown Illinois on January 2nd 1924 to Lloyd and Henrietta (Kesler) Phelps. She graduated from Beardstown High School and Gem City Business College and then was employed by the Illinois Department of Registration and Education and resigned to be employed as secretary to the director in Albuquerque for the Atomic Energy Commission. She married Joseph H Carter and moved to California where he was stationed with the USAF. After tours at Travis Air Force Base CA, RAF Alconbury Cambridgeshire England, and Alexandria LA where Joe retired, They relocated to Florida where Joe was employed by the Florida Department of Agriculture.
