ELLIS, Elizabeth I., Kalamazoo. Elizabeth died at home peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday evening, September 1, 2011. She was born December 1, 1919 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Lincoln and Daisy Pifer Greene. Elizabeth was employed by the Sutherland Paper Co. and then Portage Public Schools for 26 years as a bus driver, until her retirement.
She was a wise, spunky, and beloved woman who filled the lives of her friends and family with joy. On November 25, 1939, she was united in marriage to John Harold Ellis in Kalamazoo, who preceded her in death on August 19, 2008. Also preceding her in death were her parents; 3 brothers, Lincoln Jr, Lawrence, and Theodore Greene; and sister, Mary Catherine Weaver.
Surviving are 2 children, Deborah Bruce Moore of Plainwell, and Beth Bill Barrett of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Jason Kelley Moore, NannetteDavid Stultz, Chad Natalie Moore, Erin Jason Chapman, and Kyle Erica Barrett; 4 great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Moore, and Makayla and Zachary Stultz; 1 brother, Thomas Greene of Plainwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
