Elizabeth “Betty” Conley Latstetter, 98, of Pearcy Avenue, Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010 in the Meadowview Manor nursing home. Mrs. Latstetter was retired from Pittsburgh Coal where she was secretary to the vice president until 1939. She was born in Pittsburgh on January 29, 1912, a daughter of the late Patrick J. and Jean McElroy Conley. She was married to John W. Latstetter who preceded her in death in 1988. Surviving are one daughter, Elizabeth Latstetter Burke, Laurel, MD; and two grandchildren, Charles W. “Chuck” Burke, IV, and his wife, Susan, VA, and Elizabeth Jean “Betsy” Burke and her husband, Mark, MD; two great grandchildren, Marleah A. Kirkham and Victoria R. “Tori” Burke; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Jean Lee Latstetter; two brothers, James Conley and Billy Conley; and one sister, Mary Hughes. Elizabeth graduated in 3 ½ years from Peabody High School in Pittsburgh, 14th in a class of 300. Fellow classmates included Chalmers Robert, a journalist with the Washington Post, and Gene Kelly, a musical movie star famous for “Singing in the Rain” among other films.
