Biography
Monson-Elizabeth H. Colleton, 92, died on August 3, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 3, 1919 in New Haven, CT to John and Frances Hennrikas. Elizabeth was a teacher in the Monson Public Schools for over 30 years. She taught values to her students as well as to her children and all recognize those values as we lead our lives. She was predeceased by her husband John V. Colleton in 2006, a daughter Deborah and grandson Ansel Carlin. She is survived by daughters Anne Colleton of Charlestown, MA, Kathleen Fraczek of Brattleboro, VT, Sara Colleton of New York City, son John Colleton and Janice Dickstein of Longmeadow, MA and daughter M. Kate and Chris Carlin of Monson and grandsons Jake Fraczek of Roxbury, M A and Ian Carlin of Los Angeles. She is also survived by her sister Eleanor Case of Agawam, MA and her family.
Elizabeth and John were Monson’s Rotary’s Co-Citizens of the Year in 2004. Elizabeth in the past was active in the Monson Arts Council, Monson Historical Society, Monson Free Library and honorary board member of the Keep Homestead Museum. Betty was an amazing cook, seamstress for her family, and enjoyed gardening , painting and reading.
She would like to remember her cherished friends Nancy Rouette, Kathy Richards and Barbara Keffer. The family would like to thank her caregivers for their devotion, Jessica Keefe and Ann Aubin.
