Elizabeth C. Meyer, 90, formerly of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law. She was born July 28, 1918, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Miles and Annie Fitzpatrick Standish. She married Earl Dewayne Meyer on Dec. 20, 1945, in Indianapolis, and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2002.
She is survived by one son, Earl Dewayne (wife, Cate) Meyer, Jr. of Springfield, two grandsons, Christopher Meyer and Phillip Meyer, all of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ed, Miles, John, and Albert Standish, and two sisters, Aileen Standish and Grace Mitchell.
Mrs. Meyer was an L.P.N. and had worked at the Jacksonville State Hospital, Our Saviourâ??s Hospital, Norris Hospital, and Passavant Hospital. She was a member of the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville and attended Cathedral Church in Springfield. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and she enjoyed playing cards with friends. She was devoted to her church and loved her family.
