Elizabeth (Betty) McCormick, age 85, entered into the nearer presence of our Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2021. She was born Elizabeth Jane Schmidt on September 27, 1935 in Saxonbury, PA.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gregg A. McCormick; her parents, John W. and Eva Datt Schmidt; her brothers, Kenneth Schmidt, Harry Schmidt and Lyle Schmidt; and her sister, Marian Boltz. Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert L. McCormick, Sr.; sisters, Erla Miller and Velma Boltz; daughter, Leslie Eichelberger (Corey); sons, Robert McCormick, Jr. (Penny) and John D. McCormick (Wendy). Betty is also survived by her grandchildren, Patrick McCormick (Ashley), Zachary W. Eichelberger, Benjamin and Lily McCormick, Jacob and Jason Rangel, Nicholas and Carl Clark and their families.
Betty graduated from Allegheny Valley School of Nursing in 1955 and received her BSN from Youngstown State University. Her nursing career spanned 66 years. She was still working as a nurse at Highland Rivers Health until April 29, 2021 when an accident occurred that left her unable to continue her work. She was a member of Dalton First United Methodist Church and Sounds of Joy music group. Betty was an amazing woman who was a friend and mentor to countless people. She will be greatly missed.
