Kathleen Elizabeth Fite (Betty) Thorne, 90, of Boerne, went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2016 in San Antonio, TX.
Betty was born in San Antonio to Lewis E. & Kathleen Roots Fite on March 26, 1926. She attended Thomas Jefferson High School, where she served as Major of the Lasso Drill Team. After graduation, she attended the University of Texas at Austin. Betty was involved in a number of civic organizations, including Methodist Hospital, where she served as president of the Blue Bird Auxiliary.
In addition to being a life-long resident of San Antonio, Betty was also a summer resident of Lake City, Colorado for the past several years.
Betty is survived by her children, Nancy Jacobson and husband, Kenneth; Lewis Thorne and wife, Nancy; and Larry Thorne and wife, Lisa. She is also survived by grandchildren, Doug Jacobson & wife, Ellyn; Diane Shivers & husband, Rob; Matthew Thorne & wife, Brittney; Kathleen Gaultney & husband, Brad; Brett Thorne; Rachel Richards & husband, Lance; and Hailey Ivy & husband, Kevin. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren were a great source of pride & joy. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family & friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis & Kathleen Fite, her brother, Lewis Fite Jr. & her daughter, Janet Ruth Thorne.
