Elizabeth (Betty) Euphemia Grubbs Hill, age 68, of Johns Creek passed on October 28th, 2020 after a brief illness.
Betty is survived by her children; Michael (Jana) of Bogart, Jeffrey of Brookhaven, Richard (Mary) of Roswell, and Mary Elizabeth (Steve) of Monticello; her brother Steve and sister Cheryl, in laws Donna Grubbs, Wayne (Karen) Hill, Jerry Hill, Jenny (Rob) Parker, and Ann (Henry) Butts; numerous nieces and nephews; and one grandchild (Nyla Nichols).
Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband of 42 years Jesse W. Hill, by her parents William Pennell Grubbs Sr. and Mary Reinhardt Grubbs, her parent in-laws W.J. Hill III and Marlin Newberry Hill, and by her brother William (Donna) Pennell Grubbs, Jr.
Betty was born in Atlanta and was a rare multi-generation native of Atlanta. She attended OLA, St. Pius X, and graduated from Cross Keys High School and the University of Georgia. She was well known as a passionate advocate for her children, for her involvement in competitive swimming as a parent, as a teacher of children, and as a devoted Georgia Bulldog fan. Betty always stood up for anyone who was an underdog. She was known for her laughter and joy she brought to many—along with her love for dogs!
Betty had too many important friends to acknowledge individually. Despite that, the family would like to acknowledge a few. Jackie (Michael) Friedman of Dunwoody and Kathy (Frank) Bell of Decatur were her close friends for many decades. In recent years, she made new friends with her exercise group at Just fitness 4U silver sneakers class, her neighbors, and her friend Robert Stewart, all of whom brought her much joy, especially since she became a widow.
The family would like to express its gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for our mother at Emory Johns Creek Hospital and Emory University Hospital Decatur. They provided heroic care for Betty and we will be forever grateful for their efforts.
