In the calm and quiet of early Friday morning, October 7, our beloved Mom, Gram, Babci, Cioci, Betty, peacefully departed this world. Her loving family maintained a bedside vigil to honor her. She enjoyed the 95 years she spent on earth but was ready to rejoin loved ones that went ahead of her.
Born in New Britain, she spent the next 90 years thriving there. Graduating from local schools, marching in a band, embracing Sacred Heart Parish and raising her family. The last 5 years of her life were spent in Duxbury, MA surrounded by nature, enjoying wildlife, towering pines and fresh air.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Joseph, her parents Joseph and Pelagia (Stach) Wozniak and her brothers Henry and Albin, her sister Florence Laskarzewski and her much loved rescue dog, Joey. She is survived by 3 children, her sons, John (Joanne), Mark (Sue), and her daughter Amy McCarthy (Bob), 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and many caring nieces and nephews. Mom cherished her family and their times spent together. She was proud of their accomplishments and loved them all unconditionally.
Proud of her Polish heritage and bilingual skills, she worked for many years as a secretary at Sacred Heart School, an associate for Peoples Bank and as a receptionist for the Harbut medical practice.
Betty loved people and reveled in conversation with family, friends, co-workers and even strangers. She enjoyed bowling, card games, and puzzle making. Food and fabric were her passions. She loved to cook and she loved to quilt, always sharing her creations with others. Her love for God and her catholic faith guided her throughout her life. In her final years, daily mass and rosary started her day.
