Elizabeth Ann Jury, 78, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 10, 1934 in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Elmer and Dorothy (Hackworthy) Root. She graduated from Appleton High School and attended Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa where she met her husband Robert L. Jury. They were married on June 16, 1956 at First Methodist Church in Appleton. She worked for thirty years as a teacher’s aide in the Freeport School District, her last seventeen years at Carl Sandburg Middle School.

She was a long time member of Embury United Methodist church, serving on many committees. She was a past president and 56 year member of P.E.O. sisterhood, Chapter IY and an officer in the Ladies of the Elks.              She enjoyed touring the country on a motorcycle with her husband, vacation trips to Las Vegas with the family, doing cross stitching, knitting, puzzle books, playing cards, crafts, and especially attending many of her children’s and grandchildren’s volleyball, football, basketball, soccer and baseball games.

She is survived by her husband and three children, Carol A. (Jerry) Hill of Rockford, IL., R. Brian (Karen) Jury of New Richmond, WI., and Barbara L. Ferling of Winnebago, IL., seven grandchildren, Jason T. Hill, Sarah E. Hill, Kayla A. Hill, Angela R. Kimmey, Amanda K. Jury, Andrew A. Ferling and Brandon R. Ferling, two great grandchildren, Wesley J.and Emily K. Martinson, a sister Mary (Ray) Durkee, a brother Steve (Penny) Root, many nieces and nephews, and her Margarita sisters, Grace Mohr, Martha Pople, Linda Spangler, Sandy Greenfield and Marion Ewalt.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
