Elizabeth Brandt was born on February 20th 1943 to her mother and father, Clarence and Mable Brandt. On September 18, 2022 she went to her eternal home- the place God prepared for her. She was born in Rocky Ford CO. She is survived by her son Glenn, and her 2 daughters Nancy and Carrie, her 2 brothers Claud (wife Marianna) and Bob (wife Billie) , Seven Grandkids Nathan Loyd, Andrew Hayes, Jordan Quinn, Kara Lindenmeyer, Joshua Hayes, Ebony Hayes, & Kami Quinn. She has several great grandchildren and also on the Adamson side of the family she has Brian, (Gena wife), Kellie, & Casandra.
Growing up in the La Junta, Rockford area in Colorado, her parents raised 6 kids. Betty was the only girl falling #5 in line. Her Brothers kept her on her toes. Slamming her toes in the cellar probably several times. She watched them get in all kinds of trouble. They protected her But also teased her and made her the spitfire she was. She was married to David F Hayes And had 3 incredible children. After I, Carrie the youngest, was born They moved to Durango. We lived there for about two years. Then moved to Englewood in 1967.
Betty worked as a child care provider for many years. After 16 years of marriage she divorced David and continued raising us the three kids on her own. Betty sacrificed so much in order to keep the house and everything afloat. Because of her hard work, she was able to pay off her house just before I finished high school. This is something we are so proud of mom for. She showed us what it means to work hard and provide for your family while also raising us and supporting us as well.
Mom we will miss you but will remember all the things you instilled in us. You gave us the perfect example of Chirst’s unconditional love. We watched you as you took us kidds to Pueblo every weekend when your own dad was not doing well. We watched you care for him and then care for your own mother after he had passed. You demonstrated genuine gratitude for all that you had rather than focusing on what you didn’t have. You were always ready to show appreciation and kindness to anyone you crossed paths with. Mom taught us at a young age to be strong. To fight for what we wanted. To dream big. To follow our heart. To Walk in God’s footsteps.
We will miss you mom. All 4 foot 10 inches of you. You were the foundation for our family. You were a very talented seamstress, an amazing chef and baker. Along with that you knew how to make things work out. You taught us to not stress out over the little things. To Keep our eyes on the positive. Mom, grandma, friend, childcare provider and caregiver to everyone she came in contact with. When she was asked how many children she had for a memory test this past year, it wasn’t really a fair question because mom loved so many people like they were her own children.
She was very content to live a simple life and to live each day as if it were her last. She enjoyed family reunions, sunrises and sunsets. She loved watching the snow fall.
She enjoyed her time in this world. Loved her 8 grandkids & 6 great grandkids. And all of the hundreds of kids she watched over the years at her daycare.
Mom we miss you so much and know you are with our creator in heaven. Your example of how you loved God and people will live on in our lives forever. We will miss you mom.
