Bette was born in Port Jervus, New York on the 9th of November 1930. Her family moved to Garnerville, NY when she was seven and then to Stony Point, NY where she attended and graduated from North Rockland high school in 1947. She then attended a secretarial college and upon graduation was hired to work in the US Military Academy (West Point) in the claim’s office. Shortly after High School she married Les Green and was blessed with a daughter on the 25th of November 1951. After fifteen years as a civil servant, she pursued her childhood dream of working in New York City and was hired to be a legal secretary in one of the largest International Patent and Trade Law Firms.
For the next forty-plus years, she lived in the Murray Hill region of Manhattan, walking to work in the Rockefeller Center and happily pursuing the culture of New York City (Operas, Ballets, Broadway, Museums).
Throughout my life, my aunt was known for her generosity, kindness, and caring nature. When her mother and aunt needed help with groceries and shopping, she started taking the bus each weekend from Grand Central Station to Stony Point, NY. This was a common routine for almost fifteen years with her aunt living well into her nineties and her mother living to 101. Upon her retirement at the age of 68, she moved back to Stony Point into her Aunt’s home that she inherited.
Mrs. Elizabeth (Bette) Anne Moran is survived by her grandson Drew Hammond (Sandy) and two grant-granddaughters (Tracy & Hannah) of Doylestown, PA. Her sister, Margaret (Richard) Schoeneman of Niceville, FL. Her nephews, John (Lori) Schoeneman of Harrisburg, NC, and James (Penny) Schoeneman of Niceville, FL. Nieces Kay (Dave) Lee of Buford, GA and Lisa Schoeneman of Niceville, FL.
