Elisa Bermea

May 24, 1926 – June 4, 2018

Our dearly beloved Elisa Bermea, 92, departed from us on June 4, 2018 and she prepared herself for the coming of the Lord.  She was born in Donna, Texas on May 24, 1926 to Apolonio B. Balli and Gregoria R. Balli. 

She is preceded in death by her parents,; her husband, Ramiro G. Bermea; sisters, Elodia Balli & Maria Elena Balli Garcia; brothers, Jaime Balli, Apolonio C. Balli, & Ruben Balli.

Elisa is survived by her daughter, Maricela Cano (Genaro), son, Santos Rene Bermea (Julia), grandchildren, Richard Bermea (Ruby) of Sugar Land, TX, Lori Cano Katragadda (Srini) of Houston, TX, Lisa Bermea Garcia of San Benito, TX, Monica Bermea Ibarra (Saul), & Dina Cano; and 9 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister, Gloria Balli Trejo (Jose Luis) of San Antonio, TX; brothers, Humberto Balli of Vassar, MI, Herbert Balli (Amelia) of Leesville, LA, and Ernesto Balli (Antonia) of Pinckney, MI.

Elisa graduated from Edcouch/Elsa High School in 1944, and attended Pan American College one year.  She signed up for a three year nursing program at Valley Baptist Hospital affiliated with the University of Corpus Christi.  One year at Valley Baptist Hospital of Harlingen and one year at Baylor University Hospital in Dallas, TX.  Afterwards she came back to Valley Baptist Hospital to complete the nursing program and got her degree of RN in 1951.  She worked for a few years at Valley Baptist Hospital on F Street in Harlingen.  When the Air Force Base of Harlingen opened up their hospital, Elisa went to work in their Maternity Ward.  The Air Force Base closed she started to work for the Texas Department of Health System at San Benito.  Later she transferred to Well Baby Clinic of Harlingen at Fair Park.  During her working years she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in 1978 at Pan American University.  Then with the new nursing program at Pan American University, she attended one year to earn her  Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1987, and her Texas Certificate of Registered Nurse.  On December 1990, she retired with 29 years of service to Texas Department of Health.  Then for a few years she worked as Director of Casa del Sol Adult Care Center owned by Judge Ray Ramon.

Elisa enjoyed traveling with her children, siblings, and later with her great grandson, Sammy, throughout the world.  She got to travel in 40 countries and 50 states in the USA.  She will be dearly missed and forever be in our hearts.  She was the glue of our Balli Family.  This is not a final good-bye but just a see you soon in the Kingdom of God.
