Elinor Elda Hughes was born on June 25, 1940 on a little house on the twenty acre farm that had been purchased by our grandmother from our great- grandparents- Clara and August Schlien .  When mom was three years old the adjoining twenty acres was purchased upon which the family moved into the big two-story house.

Mom grew up on the farm until the age of six when the family made a move to Nampa, Idaho. Mom’s schooling entailed attending Lakeview Elementary School. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1958.

On August 15 of 1958 she married Glenn Reviere Hughes and celebrated 63 years of marriage together. This union brought four children to the marriage: Colleen Kay, Martin “Marty” Glenn, Debra “Debbie” Sue, and Gerald “Gerry” Lynn.

The family lived in Homedale, Idaho at the birth of their oldest child Colleen. Right after the birth of their oldest son Martin they moved to Leadore, Idaho where their father Glenn taught school. Then the family moved to Caldwell, Idaho where Glenn taught in Marsing and Wilder, Idaho. After teaching at these schools our father also worked as a counselor in the Meridian, Idaho School District. Then upon working part- time in Boise, Idaho for the State of Idaho Department of Employment the family moved to Pocatello, Idaho where our father continued working for the State of Idaho.

Mom was a homemaker during the early part of their marriage and while us children were young. As we became older, she worked at a motel and in a restaurant. In later years Mom worked for two different day- care centers who enjoyed working with children. Mom was between jobs and unemployed at the time of our grandfather’s death in 1994, so Mom and Dad moved back down to Nampa where they had since resided. During this time Mom helped take care of our grandmothers until their deaths in 1997 and 2012. They continued living in Nampa taking care of our grandparent’s old house until it was sold and then taking care of their house on Flamingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn, grandparents, her mother Rosa, father and mother in – laws Hobart and Pauline, a sister Loretta, brother- in- laws Harold, Donald, and Wayne. She is survived by her children Colleen, Martin, Debbie, and Gerald and grandchildren David, Daniel, and Jeremy. She is also survived by her sister Carol, brother Delmar (Irene), sister- in- law Lois and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
