Elin Falk Missel, passed peacefully 09 December 2020 in Littleton, CO. Elin was born 24 August 1928, in Aberdeen, Washington the youngest of 5 children born to Oscar and Selma Falk. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Joe M. Missel and her grandchild Max Hauselmann. Elin is survived by her daughter Susan (Patrick Hauselmann) and 3 sons Donald (Diana), Robert and John, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren.
Elin attended Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen, WA. She met Joe Missel while still in High School, working at a local gas station. She worked for a time at the Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Medical Records. Elin married Joe after he returned home at the end of World War II. When Joe finished his degree in Civil Engineering, their life on the road, traveling to different job sites began. She saw most of the U.S. moving between the 9 states the different job sites were in, for over 40 moves.
The family spent time in states across the country and included a 3-year stint in Baral Colony Pakistan.
After moving the family to Greenfield MA, she took up oil painting. Learning to paint was a creative outlet for her. The stay in Greenfield was one of the longest for Elin. She watched most of her children graduate from High School during this period. The time in Greenfield came to end when Joe was transferred to an office in Greenwood Village, CO. Elin started playing golf and joined Paradise Valley Country Club to enjoy her newfound passion. Joe’s work continued to have him on the road while Elin stayed home allowing her youngest son to graduate High School.
The traveling began again with stints in State College, PA; West Virginia; and Clear Lake, CA. before Joe retired to California with Elin. They settled in Redding, CA, building their dream house with a swimming pool.
Elin lost her husband in 2006, but she continued to live in Redding. In 2018 she moved back to Colorado to be closer to family until passing at the age of 92. She leaves behind her family who will miss her a great deal.
