Elias Giannopoulos, 89, of New Haven died March 19, 2011 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Christoula Karachristos Giannopoulos. Mr. Giannopoulos was born in Syracuse, N.Y. on March 25, 1921, son of the late Nikolas and Fotoula Giannopoulos. He operated Bell Spa at State and Chapel Streets in New Haven in the 1970’s. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Alexandra (Haralambos) Hartoumbekis of New Haven with whom he resided; two brothers, Spyros Giannopoulos of North Branford and Angelo (Euthimia) Giannopoulos of New Haven; his twin sister, Georgia Katsipordas in Greece and three grandchildren, Christoula, Elias and Dimetrios Hartoumbekis. He was predeceased by two sisters, Alexandra Andrea and Jennie Kitris.
