Mrs. Eleonore Franziska Meroney, age 83, of Sharpsburg, formerly of Locust Grove passed away June 11, 2016. She was born one of three children in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Heinrich Albert and Anna Maria Rothlauf.
Eleonore met the love of her life Sidney Meroney, while he was serving in the Army in Germany, and married Sidney at the age of 18. After Sidney retired from the Army with over 20 years of service, he and Eleonore settled down in Georgia to raise their family. Survivors include children, Pat (Kelly) Ryan of Newnan, Sandy (Billy) Boyd of Sharpsburg, Dennis (Meriann) Meroney of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; grandchildren Nichole (Jeff) Jeffery, Lindsey Waldrip, Sydney Boyd, Chandler Boyd; great-granddaughter, Ella Jeffery; and sister, Irma Wilhelm of Dusseldorf, Germany.
She was predeceased by her husband, Sidney Malcom Meroney, who passed away on May 13, 2014. Eleonore’s son, Sidney “Frank” Meroney passed away just 8 days later on June 19, 2016.
