Eleazar Webber Gonzalez, 86 years old went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 surrounded by his family at Valley Baptist Medical Center. He was born on October 25, 1931 to German and Esperanza Webber Gonzalez. He was married to Juanita C. Gonzalez for 63 year until she passed away in 2015. He joined the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean Conflict and had attained the rank of Sergeant by the time he was Honorably Discharged. He was very proud of his service to his country and continued to be involved as a member of the American Legion, Catholic War Veterans, Founder and Former Chairman of the 82nd Airborne Association-Rio Grande Valley Chapter, Life Member of the Panther Association for the 82nd Airborne Division, the 505th – 82nd Airborne Association, and Life Member of the International Airborne Association. Eleazar was a lifetime resident of Harlingen and worked for the City of Harlingen for 30 years until his retirement as Chief Director of Environmental Health Service.
Eleazar was a selfless man who planted seeds of love and hope in many. He was a dependable man that his family could count on, including friends and strangers.
Eleazar is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Juanita C. Gonzalez, his parents, German and Esperanza Webber Gonzalez, brothers Ernesto Gonzalez, Herman Gonzalez, Paul Garcia, Jesse Garcia and a sister, Consuelo Gonzalez. He leaves behind his most cherished memories in the form of his children: Eleazar Gonzalez Jr. (Rosalinda), Omar Gonzalez, Caesar Gonzalez, Norma Linda Gonzalez-Martinez (Noe), Aaron Ronnie Gonzalez, Xavier Gonzalez (Violet), Herman Gonzalez, (Elma) and grandchildren: Rebeca, Enoch, Jacob, Caleb, George, Crystal Yvonne, Stephanie Noelani, Noe Jr, Laurie, Gabriela, Cassandra, Deborah Lee, Xavier Jr, Matthew, Joshua, Patrick Isabel, Veronica Rivera, Kristalinda, Karynna, Herman Jr., and Desiree. He also leaves behind great grandchildren: Elias, Ezra, Asher, Amelia, Isaac, Asia, Anthony, Angel, James, Erin, Evan, Ace, Aiden, Isaac, Ellie, Joseph, Alina Sol, Anahi Ivy, and Brielle Skye along with sisters: Consuelo “Connie” Davalos, Dolores “Lola” Bermea, Mary Garcia, Adela Goldsmith (Andy) and brother, Jimmy Gonzalez. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
