Eleanor Thomas (nee Concerius) passed away Saturday June 20th at the Masonic Home of New Jersey after having recently celebrated her 90th birthday with family and dear friends. Born March 25, 1925 in Shenandoah, Pennsylvania, she was the only child of William (Koncerius) Concerius and Catherine Constance Concerius (nee Trunzie).

She was a parishioner of Old Saint George Lithuanian Church in Shenandoah until she moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to attend Hahnemann School of Nursing on an Army scholarship. While attending Hahnemann she met her future husband, William Thomas. Upon graduation from Hahnemann in 1945, with the war having ended, Eleanor was able to secure employment at various medical institutions including the Wilmar Eye Institute, John Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland.

After moving to Burlington, NJ after her marriage to William, she worked as a nurse/charge nurse at Burlington County Memorial Hospital, now Virtua, Lakewood House in Burlington, Moorestown Nursing Home and most recently Burlington County Special Services School District. During this time, Eleanor graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Glassboro College. She also pursued a master’s degree in counseling and had completed all of the required course work towards her degree. She retired from the Burlington Special Services School District after 20 years serving as a registered school nurse providing nursing services to many children with special needs.

Eleanor loved to travel, celebrating family milestones, reading, playing a mean game of scrabble and opera. She loved all the arts and loved to paint. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband William Thomas and her parents Catherine Concerius and William Concerius. Sadly being missed by family and friends, she is survived by her 3 daughters, Constance Thomas and her family friend Linwood Price of Westampton, NJ; Karen Lee Thomas Gokey and her husband Bill Gokey of Ormond Beach, Florida and Joyce Marie Thomas Savar and her husband Barry Savar of Bridgewater, NJ.

She will be missed by her grandchildren Steven Charles Gokey and his fiancée Nicole Henry of Ormond Beach, Florida, Megan Marie Gokey of Brooklyn, NY and Gage and Lucas Savar of Bridgewater, NJ. She is also survived by her two sisters-in-law Irene Thomas McCall of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania and Kathleen Trainor Thomas of Medford, NJ as well as many nieces and nephews of several generations.
