Eleanor Hooper, 97, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2021 in Lafayette. She was born on September 27, 1923 in Linden to the late Finis and Eula (Garman) McKinney.

Eleanor grew up in Linden with two brothers and four sisters.  She married Otis Hooper in 1943 in St Louis, MO. He preceded her in death on February 5, 1983.  She started working at a very early age and her first job was at Davis Cleaners in Lafayette.  She later began working at Duncan (Landis+Gyr) where she retired from after 37 years of service.  After her retirement she began working part time at St Mary’s Nursing Home in Lafayette in the activities department and worked there over 20 years. She was a member of Kossuth Street Baptist Church.  She enjoyed helping people, laughing and having a good time with everyone she met.  She loved to travel and be outside in the sun as much as possible.  She loved visiting Florida, Hawaii, Gatlinburg and Las Vegas.  She enjoyed playing bingo and doing yard work.

She is survived by two sons, Jack Hooper of Lafayette and Billy (Tara) Hooper of Lafayette.  Two grandsons, Kim (Samantha) Hooper of Lafayette, Bryan (Gerardo) Hooper of Indianapolis, and granddaughter Amy Powell of Lebanon.  Two great grandchildren, Bradley (Danielle) Scott of Rossville and Kalynn (Zach) Beard of Lafayette.  Three great-great grandchildren, Huxley, Brynlee and Calvin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter-in-law, Melody Hooper, her parents; two brothers, Paul & Bobby McKinney; five sisters, Myrtle Breshears, Mildred Welsh, Margaret Barker, Betty Edwards and infant sister Ruth.
