Eleanor Louise Becker Champion- “Becky”
Our precious Auntie Becky passed Thursday morning September 15th, 2022.
Eleanor Louise Becker was born July 13, 1928 in Denver, to Elsie and Gus Becker, who emigrated from Germany. She was married 56 years to Jack Champion and they had two children Timmy and Susan Champion. After Jack’s passing, she married a close family friend Bill Boyle and thoroughly embraced his children and his granddaughter. Becky received her BA from Colorado A&M, and laughingly would say she met “both her husband’s there”. She was the accountant for the family business Champion Specialty Company, and just as efficiently she ran her home in an organized and orderly manner. Jack and their son Tim would teasingly refer to her as “the War Department”.
Becky was a talented cook and seamstress and created artistic needlework. She was a gifted gardener, and her gardens were always a thing of beauty. She and Jack had a second wonderful family home in Silver Plume that they refurbished and made into a storybook mountain cottage, and it too had a lovely garden. They had numerous enjoyable years in Silver Plume, sharing many happy occasions with family and friends there. Becky will be remembered by those who love her for her charming nature, lively firecracker wit, and darling spirit. She was a joy to be with, and her humor and grace blessed all who knew her.
Becky was predeceased by her children and husbands. She is survived by her son-in-law Larry Schwab, his and Susan’s children Larry Jr, Daniel, Jessica, and their families, her dear sister-in-law Betty Speedie, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families from the Champion-Hoch-Von Vihl Clan.
