Eleanor Jessie Atkins(nee Andres), 91, of Whiting, Manchester Twp., NJ passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Whiting Healthcare Center. Eleanor was born and raised in Newark, NJ where she was courted by her husband of 60 years, Joseph Francis Atkins.
She was a long-time resident of Rahway, NJ, before moving to Whiting, NJ 7 years ago. Eleanor was a clerk in the meat department at Pathmark in Linden, NJ for most of her working career. In addition to spending time with family, she enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter Linda Van Sant of Jackson, NJ, 2 sons Allen Atkins and Thomas Atkins of Nevada, a sister Shirley Ferriday of Whiting, NJ, her grandchildren Cynthia, Christine, Jennifer and her husband Ray, and Robert and his wife Victoria, 6 great-grandchildren Alyssa, E.J., Justin, Savannah, Brycen and Adalyn and a great great grandson Liam.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2004.
