Eleanor H. Peterson, 97, of Bethlehem, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 in Cedarbrook, Fountain Hill. She was the wife of the late Albert Peterson who died in 1991. Born in Woodhaven, NY she was the daughter of the late Harry and May (Burden) Schoenhaus. Eleanor was an accomplished piano teacher, she owned and operated a music studio with her husband Al on Jamaca Avenue in Queens, NY. She was a great athlete playing many sports including basketball in a time when few women participated. She was an avid Tennis player, who played in sectional and national senior tournaments and continued to play until she was 86. The rest of her leisure time was spent sailing the Great South Bay. Survivors: She is survived by a brother, Everett Schoenhaus of Long Island, NY; 3 grandchildren, Suzette Lopane of West Chester Co., NY, Karine Towe of Tacoma Park, and Matthew Bouis of Salt Lake City, UT; and a son-in-law, Paul A. Bouis of Coopersburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, and their only child, Nancy E. Bouis.
