Eleanor Grieb, 84, died at 6:37 p.m. Thursday (May 8, 2008) at home.
She was born Feb. 7, 1924, in Fergus, Ontario, Canada, to Cedric E. and Agnes (Purdon) Eason. She married Riley R. Grieb on July 11, 1948, in Elkhart. He died in August 1984.
Survivers include three sons, Riley P. Grieb and Timothy J. Grieb, both of Elkhart, and Perry E. (Mary) Grieb of Kokomo; and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John C. and Richard C. Eason; and a sister, Lois LeFevre.
There will be no visitation or services. Cremation will take place. Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St., Elkhart, is handling arrangements.
Eleanor was an area artist for many years. She was a member of the Elkhart Art League, Midwest Musuem of American Art, South Bend Regional Museum of Art and Northern Indiana Artists Inc. She was accepted several times at the Hoosier Salon, a juried art show. She was an Elkhart High School graduate and attended the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, formerly known as the Layton School of Art and Design. She was also a former volunteer with the Salvation Army in Elkhart helping with meals on wheels.
